Trust & Safety at Sharely
How we maintain an honest, safe, and spam-free public link ecosystem.
a Our safety philosophy
At Sharely, we believe that an open link directory can only thrive when visitors feel completely secure exploring external content. Our primary commitment is to protect users from malicious redirects, phishing traps, spam networks, and deceptive links while ensuring creators have a clean, legitimate platform to present their work.
We combine proactive automated checks with diligent community moderation to evaluate every submission before it reaches the public explore index. Transparency is central to our values, and we speak plainly about our capabilities and boundaries: No safety system is perfect.
Because web content is dynamic, we continually refine our verification rules, enforce strict domain blocklists, and respond rapidly whenever a community member flags a problematic destination.
b Automated link checks
Immediately upon submission, our automated security pipeline performs immediate structural and safety validation:
- Encrypted Protocol Enforcement: Only valid
https://web addresses are accepted. Unencrypted HTTP links are automatically declined. - Raw IP Host Prohibition: Direct IP address hosts (e.g., raw numerical server IPs) are prohibited to prevent unverified infrastructure exposure.
- Keyword & Domain Blocklists: URLs are screened against comprehensive domain blocklists covering known malware, phishing targets, adult content, and deceptive software downloads.
- Duplicate Prevention: Our system verifies that the submitted link does not already exist in the active directory, preventing duplicate clutter.
c automated safety scanning queue
Passing automated checks does not grant immediate public listing. Every new submission enters a pending moderation queue where community moderators evaluate the link's metadata, destination relevance, category accuracy, and poster appearance.
Only links that meet our content guidelines are approved and published to the public explore grid. Submissions containing misleading titles, improper categories, or suspicious destination behavior are rejected.
d Community report button
Community vigilance is our most powerful defense. Every dedicated link poster showcase page and comment section on Sharely features a visible flag and report button.
If a published link changes its destination content, triggers unexpected popups, or violates our policies, visitors can instantly submit an abuse report detailing the concern. Reported items are flagged for urgent moderator re-evaluation.
e Administrative actions
Our moderation and admin team maintains authority to act quickly upon receiving report signals or identifying policy breaches.
Available administrative actions include approving pending items, instantly removing published links from the directory, issuing user account suspensions, and applying permanent domain-wide bans to block repeat offenders across all subdomains.
f Ranking honesty & click integrity
Integrity extends beyond safety to how content is positioned. On Sharely, links are ranked strictly by verified visitor clicks.
To prevent artificial inflation, our click analytics enforce strict rate limits: exactly one click per visitor per link per hour is counted toward ranking metrics. Bot traffic, automated refresh scripts, proxy loops, and paid click farms are detected and discarded. There are no bought positions, sponsored ranking boosts, or algorithmic manipulations on Sharely.
g Content zoning & submitter appeals
Submissions are filtered into three distinct policy zones:
- Allowed Zone: Educational content, developer tools, AI utilities, blogs, communities, podcasts, and stores are approved for public listing following standard moderation review.
- Restricted Zone: Submissions in sensitive topics (such as loans, gambling guides, crypto, or dating) are automatically placed in a hold state for elevated automated safety scan prior to publication.
- Banned Zone: Illegal material, adult pornography, malware, phishing traps, hate speech, and scams are automatically rejected.
If a submitter's link is held or rejected, they can submit a private appeal from their account dashboard (Appeal Gateway). Each appeal is reviewed by human administrators with final decision logging.
