Ranking System Explained
An in-depth look at Sharely's transparent, click-driven ranking methodology.
1. The core principle of click-driven ranking
Most modern discovery feeds rely on complex machine learning algorithms designed to maximize platform dwell time. These proprietary feeds often favor controversial engagement traps, corporate sponsors, or paywalled media campaigns.
Sharely operates on a fundamentally different principle: real human interest should determine visibility. When a visitor clicks a link to visit its external destination, that action represents a genuine vote of interest. We tally these verified clicks transparently and use them as the sole metric for community ranking. There are no algorithmic weightings, hidden penalty scores, or sponsored boosts.
2. Rate-limiting & click integrity rules
To ensure that click metrics remain authentic and resistant to manipulation, Sharely enforces strict verification rules at the service level:
- One Click Per Visitor Per Link Per Hour: If a single visitor clicks the "Visit Link" button multiple times within 60 minutes, only the first click is incremented. Additional clicks during that hour are safely ignored.
- Anonymized Verification Tokens: Click verification checks user session tokens, anonymized IP hashes, and timestamp windows to identify repeated automated requests without storing invasive personal tracking data.
- Automated Bot Filtering: Requests originating from known crawler user agents, headless browser scripts, or automated proxy pools are automatically discarded before affecting click totals.
3. Understanding directory sort filters
Visitors exploring Sharely can view links organized by three distinct, transparent sort modes:
Trending Sort
Ranks links based on recent click velocity over rolling 24-hour and 7-day windows. Highlights emerging community links that are gaining rapid interest.
Most Clicked Sort
Ranks links strictly by total lifetime verified clicks. Showcases long-term community favorites and evergreen resources.
Newest Sort
Displays approved links chronologically by publication time. Gives newly moderated submissions immediate, equal exposure at the top of the grid.
4. Zero bought rankings or paid positions
Many directory websites monetize by selling "Featured Link" slots, "Sponsored Top Rankings," or paid priority badges. Sharely maintains an uncompromised policy: ranking positions are never for sale.
Every submission—whether created by a first-time blogger, an open-source maintainer, or a well-known channel—is evaluated under identical moderation standards and competes on equal terms for visitor clicks. This guarantee protects visitor trust and ensures that top-ranked links earn their position purely through genuine audience approval.
If our system detects unusual click anomalies or coordinated click farm activity targeting a specific link, those artificial clicks are removed from the database during routine audit checks, restoring accurate metric standings.
