So then guys, I cannot believe it! We are getting ever closer to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max release in a matter of about seven and a half months. Not six months—we’re going to be getting the release of the brand-new iPhone Pro and the iPhone Pro Max in the 17 series, and we’re also going to be seeing the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Plus. But today, I want to primarily tell you about the top 11 leaks that we know about the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. So without further ado, let’s get started!
A Brand-New Rear Design
For the first time ever since the iPhone 11, it looks like the camera design on the rear of the iPhone 17 Pro series is going to be changing. It’s going to feature a rectangular camera design, more like a bar. Some might say this resembles a Pixel phone, and if it were horizontal, it might look like a Samsung Galaxy device. If all the cameras were placed in the middle, it might even resemble an Honor or Huawei phone. Apple seems a bit stuck in deciding where to position the cameras differently from the triangular design that’s been present since the iPhone 11 Pro series. But the design is definitely changing, and at the moment, it looks likely that it will adopt this rectangular look as seen in recent renders.
Material Change – Aluminum Returns
The second big change is the return of aluminum in the iPhone’s body. Interestingly, Apple moved to titanium with the iPhone 15 Pro series, but now they seem to be reversing that decision by reintroducing aluminum. There are even reports of a two-tone design, possibly featuring a glass back on the lower portion and aluminum around the camera module. While we’re not certain about all the details, it’s clear that aluminum will be integrated into the design once again.
Camera Upgrades – 48MP Telephoto and More Zoom
Moving to the third major upgrade, one of the biggest changes is in the camera system. The telephoto lens will finally get a significant upgrade to 48MP. Right now, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max feature 48MP wide and 48MP ultra-wide cameras, but the telephoto lens remains at just 12MP. This is now changing, which is fantastic news!
Because of this new telephoto lens, the fourth upgrade involves improved digital zoom capabilities. Currently, the iPhone allows up to 25x digital zoom, but this could potentially be increased to 50x. While this still doesn’t match Samsung’s 100x zoom, Apple may not want to go that far, as extreme zoom levels often result in poor image quality. Apple seems to be aiming for a balance between clarity and usability, keeping images sharp even at higher zoom levels.
Upgraded Selfie Camera
The fifth upgrade focuses on the front camera. The FaceTime camera is expected to receive an upgrade to 24MP, doubling the 12MP resolution that has been standard since the iPhone 14 Pro. This means even better selfie quality, which is fantastic news!
Enhanced Display and Glass Durability
The sixth upgrade is about the display. The front glass is expected to be even more scratch-resistant than the current Ceramic Shield. Additionally, improvements to the anti-reflective coating will make it easier to view the screen in bright sunlight. This is a welcome improvement for those who frequently use their phones outdoors.
Performance Boost – A19 Pro Chip and More RAM
Moving on to performance, the seventh upgrade is the introduction of the A19 Pro chip. While it may not bring a massive leap in performance over the A18 Pro, it is expected to offer around a 15-25% increase in CPU and GPU performance. More importantly, this chip is likely to be more power-efficient, leading to better battery life.
The eighth upgrade is an increase in RAM. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will come with 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the previous Pro models. This puts it on par with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, making multitasking and AI-driven tasks even smoother.
Apple’s Own Wi-Fi and 5G Modems
For the ninth upgrade, Apple is moving away from Qualcomm and developing its own Wi-Fi modem. This means a more efficient and possibly more powerful wireless connection.
The tenth upgrade follows suit, with Apple also introducing its own 5G modem. This custom-built modem should help improve battery life and overall network efficiency, reducing dependence on external manufacturers.
A New Color Option
Finally, for the eleventh upgrade, Apple will introduce a brand-new color for the iPhone 17 Pro series. Apple has done this for several years—introducing Deep Purple with the iPhone 14 Pro, titanium colors with the iPhone 15 Pro, and Desert Titanium for the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature another exclusive color, though details are still unknown.
